Cookeville History Museum Escape Exhibit Opens Saturday

A new exhibit opening this weekend at the Cookeville History Museum will have kids trying to escape.

Ashley McKee is the museum education specialist.

“In the summertime, we like to do exhibits geared toward kids, and our exhibit specialist came up with the idea of doing a kids-themed escape room,” McKee said.

Escape rooms are popular with adults in cities across the country. Participants are placed in a room and have to search for clues and solve puzzles to get out.

McKee said the Cookeville History Museum’s kids-themed escape room is designed for kids and parents to work together.

“Participants get each clue and you need to solve the clue. We have it set in a museum worker, docent, volunteer type setting, so there’s a little bit of detective work and mystery that’ll come along with it too,” McKee said.

The exhibit opens Saturday and be available until July 15. The Cookeville History Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
