Algood will likely need a new police cruiser after an officer crashed in Smithville Monday evening.
Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison said officer Christopher Ferguson did not suffer any injuries in the crash that occurred on Broad Street in front of Tractor Supply.
“He was driving home from training in Murfreesboro when a car pulled out in front of him,” Morrison said. “We are in contact with insurance right now to figure out what we have to do.”
The Tennessee Highway patrol says Ferguson crashed into a Chevy Blazer which overturned and ejected the driver identified as 69-year-old James Cryer of Dowelltown.
Cryer is receiving treatment at Chattanooga’s Erlanger Hospital.
