A Friday morning fire has damaged the Monterey Save-A-Lot.
Monterey Fire Chief Kevin Peters said he believes the blaze started in the store’s stock room. A cause of the fire is not yet known. The state fire marshal will be investigating the blaze.
Peters said his department responded to the blaze at 3:45 a.m. and found that the building engulfed in smoke. Crews managed to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.
Peters said Save-A-Lot will remain closed as officials continue to work the scene.
