Pyles Expected To Enter Plea In Double Homicide Case Monday

A man accused of killing a Pickett County father and son in 2014 is expected to plead guilty when he appears in a Putnam County courtroom Monday. Joshua Pyles faces two counts of first degree murder and aggravated assault in the shooting deaths of Dannie and Cody Dowdy.

According to investigators, Pyles shot the two during a robbery at the Dowdy’s business known as the Sugar Shack. He allegedly entered an establishment and opened fire before taking $400 from a cash register.

According to TBI agents, Pyles stated that the motive was robbery after his son became ill and the family was having other financial difficulties.
