A weekend search for a missing kayaker on Dale Hollow Lake was unsuccessful.
Clay County Emergency Management Agency Director Natalie Boone said search crews were unable to locate Christina Esparza despite having help from statewide agencies and out-of-state agencies.
Esparza went missing over a week ago when her inflatable kayak flipped upside down about 100 yards off the shoreline of Cedar Hill Resort.
After spending much of last week searching for the 46-year-old Red Boiling Springs mother, Boone asked a number of agencies to help out with a massive search this past Saturday.
“The weather was terrible, but we got it done and made a really good search effort,” Boone said. “At this point TWRA will continue to run the shoreline every day to see if she surfaces.”
Esparza is believed to be in water depths between 60 and 140 feet deep.
“We will keep searching, but obviously we can’t continue to search every day until she’s located,” Boone said. “Sometimes it takes weeks, months and even years. It’s very, very frustrating on my end.”
