Get Moving, Fit Frenzy Saturday

Need a little boost in your January fitness goals? Get it Saturday as Cookeville Leisure Services hosts Fit Frenzy.

Special Programs Coordinator Jen Webb said Fit Frenzy’s goal is to inform and excite people about group exercise. Webb said the event offers a variety of classes for all ages and experience levels. Webb said the event allows you to see the different offerings of the department in one place.

“I’ve talked to several people that said this event is where they either tried group fitness for the first time, or they found their favorite class for the first time, or they met a best friend,” Webb said. “It’s a great place to look to get started.”

Webb said the event is not time-consuming, as the classes are twenty minutes long. Webb said a total of nineteen classes are available, including strength training, yoga, and dance. Webb said prizes will be offered through a random drawing after each class.

“The purpose of fit frenzy is to encourage new people to come out and try a variety of exercise classes in an environment that is beginner friendly,” Webb said. “And it’s not too time consuming because all the classes were offering are twenty minute samples.”

Webb said each class is led by a fitness instructor. Webb said she, herself, will be leading one of the classes. Webb said in most situations, doing things together leads to greater success than doing them alone.

“A lot of times well plug that people like group fitness because the comradery of it,” Webb said. “They’re coming in and making new friends, there, you know, it’s a social thing, so there’s a large social aspect to people being a part of the community.”

Webb said Cookeville Leisure Services and Cane Creek Rec Center have been hosting this event for over five years. Fit Frenzy is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30am.
