Celina Considering New Accounting Software

Celina looking to upgrade the city to a new accounting software.

Celina Mayor Luke Collins said the system, made by Southern Software, would cost the city $24,940. Collins said the city would receive a 20 percent discount if the contract is signed by December 21st. Collins said switching to the software would be a major upgrade for the city.

“It just makes our system more modern,” Collins said. “It makes it faster, you know saves time and saves money. I mean I’m going to recommend that they do it. It’s a good long-term investment and you’ve got to stay up to date with technology.”

Celina Aldermen planned to vote on the software upgrade Tuesday night, but cancelled the meeting at the last minute due to a lack of quorum. Collins said two of the council members were unable to attend.

Collins said he plans to have further discussions with the council members to see if the council would reschedule the December meeting or push the items on the agenda to January’s meeting.
