A subject involved in some sort of shooting incident in downtown Smithville apprehended by law enforcement early Thursday evening.
Dekalb County Sheriffs Department, Smithville Police and other law enforcement involved in the search for a shooter, following an incident Thursday afternoon.
A report from Dekalb 911 said law enforcement searching for a black man in his 20s. He was seen in the area of Bell Street around 5pm. He is considered armed and dangerous. The incident is believed to have begun around 3:30pm when multiple buildings and businesses around the square were placed on lockdown. That includes the county mayor’s offices.
A source told News Talk 94.1 that law enforcement “carrying shotguns and other weapons” were “all around the building.” The man was spotted around Bell Street, according to a 911 report.
According to 911, the Sheriffs Department looking for the man for “multiple shootings.” No other information available.
