Fall Cleanup Week underway across Livingston.
Livingston Mayor Lori Elder Burnett said residents can place unwanted items at the curb and the city will pick them up to dispose of them. Items that will not be picked up are building materials, carpet, tires, chemicals, wire, fence, and paint products. Burnett said the city tries to offer the service to help out citizens.
“We do get requests all during the year for things to be picked up,” Burnett said. “So this was started just so that when people had those kinds of items that if we can’t pick them up all during the year then the people of Livingston know that we are going to set aside a time during the year to provide that service for them.”
The fall cleanup week will end on Tuesday. Burnett said with the cleanup week she hopes citizens will see the city making efforts to help them out.
“I just think I want the citizens of Livingston to know that we are trying to help them out by providing this for them,” Burnett said. “So because everybody has something every now and then and they don’t know what to do with it.”
Burnett said she views this cleanup week as a preventative measure. Burnett said to simply put items for disposal on the curb and the city will pick it up. Burnett said if items have not been picked up she recommends calling the city.
“They are welcome if they feel like if it has not been seen to call in and put in a request for a pickup,” Burnett said.
