Butler Holds Onto House District 41 Seat

Ed Butler has been reelected as Representative for House District 41 after winning 82.9 percent of the votes.

Butler received 24,723 votes to defeat Democratic Candidate Joel Hawn, who saw only 5,107 votes. Butler said he attributes his success to his constant presence in the community he serves.

“Well I think our total turnout just speaks to Tennesseans period,” Butler said. “They’re concerned about their elections. And I think one of my districts, my home precincts had 76 percent turnout in Rickman, which is impressive.”

Butler said he will continue to focus on legislation for adoption within Tennessee. Butler said he has plans to improve and expand the safe haven laws he has pushed for in the past.

“I think those numbers show that people realize we’re here to serve,” Butler said. “We want to be involved. We want to know what their needs are and we want to help meet those needs.”

Ed Butler won the race in Fentress County by 89 percent.
