Bees Prepare For White House Friday

As the Upperman Bees get ready for Friday’s game with White House, head coach Adam Caine said that this week’s preparation looks more like a college program than a high school.

The Bees stand 7-0 this season and with Putnam County on fall break, their practice schedule has been tweaked. Caine said the fall break has its pros and cons for a football team, but noted the change in practice procedures has not been an issue.

“We’re bringing them in in the morning and we’re lifting them and doing our film work,” Caine said. “And then bringing them back in the afternoon and getting our practice time in. I feel like they’ve come back refreshed mentally and physically and we’ve had two really good days so far this week.”

The Bees welcome (4-3) White House Friday night. Caine said they will be facing an explosive offense. Caine said Blue Devil seniors Michael Albin, Kenny Holt, Reed Aguilar and junior Benjamin Staley can score anytime they touch the ball.

Caine said the Bees have not been 100 percent healthy through seven weeks. Caine said he has been encouraged to see players heal up and come to every practice session with a drive.

“It seems like the guys are committed to trying to improve every week,” Caine said. “Sometimes that’s a tricky ask of teenage kids to have that day-to-day mentality of trying to improve every day. But, this group has shown up to work and I feel like improved with each day.”

He said while it is not always relevant, there are lessons to be learned from last year’s match-up. The Bees won 28-14, but Caine said it was far from a perfect performance.

“We go back and we review the film from last year and they got after us pretty good,” Caine said. “You know, we kind of pulled away late in the second half, but they’re big and try to play physical football and last year were pretty effective at it. So, this is a big challenge for us.”
