Mustard Seed Celebrating 15 Years With Fundraiser

The Mustard Seed Ranch celebrates its 15th anniversary with an online fall fundraiser Monday.

The non-profit organization provides housing and living assistance to children who cannot be cared for by their parents or grandparents. Mustard Seed Ranch Executive Director Tammy Hogan said the online fundraiser has helped drastically in years past to cover expenses for children to live in the houses.

“In Putnam County alone we got over 200 children alone in foster care right now,” Hogan said. “That’s not okay. I mean our friends at DCS are working so hard and what we want to do is help partner with our community, DCS, and other families who are truly looking to heal and provide a better life for their family.”

Hogan said the fundraiser will feature a virtual experience with a short film on YouTube and Facebook that shows donors how the non-profit is helping kids and families.

Hogan said the fundraiser has been successful in years past and they look forward to using the money to build more houses so they can help more families. The event begins at 7pm Monday online.

“The greatest thing about this is we do not charge a penny for the children to live here,” Hogan said. “Within fifteen years from the very beginning until now we have remained debt-free because our community is so loving and so supportive and gives us the true honor and raising children and giving them hope for a better future.”

Hogan said the fundraiser is one of the biggest events of the year for the non-profit.

“We are a hundred percent community supported,” Hogan said. “We do not benefit from state or federal funds and so we rely heavily on our Father in heaven to help provide these wonderful blessings for our children. Our community is that important we rely heavily on their support.”

Hogan said in Putnam County there are over 200 kids in Foster Care. Hogan said the number is not okay and the Mustard Seed Ranch works with the families to find ways for the kids to rejoin them.
