The Moody Recreation Area will be temporarily closed starting Monday as renovations to the fishing piers begin.
Dale Hollow Lake Manager Crystal Tingle said the renovations will consist of repairing two existing fishing piers, adding another fishing pier, and adding more bank stabilization. Tingle said the piers are used often and renovations were desperately needed.
“These piers have been there a long time,” Tingle said. “So I know one of the piers we had to completely remove and that’s why we are installing a new pier, so they are needing new railing, new surface boards and so it is going to vastly improve the safety.”
Tingle said they are encouraging hikers and cyclists to avoid the area to ensure safety as heavy machinery will be present. Tingle said the area will be closed for roughly two weeks.
“But it could be less it could be more it just depends on how the conditions go,” Tingle said.
Tingle said the overall objective of the renovations is to make the area safer for the people who use it. Tingle said they encourage those who are looking for a recreation area to use during the closure she recommends people to the Dale Hollow Dam Day Use Area which is nearby and open for recreation, boat launch, and fishing during this closure.
