Library Hosting Healthy Lifestyle Presentations

The Putnam County Library is set to host two healthy lifestyle presentations for residents of the Upper Cumberland this week.

Natural Health Educator Dr. Pauline Kirvin will be presenting what changes people can make to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Kirvin said a healthy lifestyle is not as far away as most people think it is. Kirvin said in most cases people are not sick they are just thirsty.

“Why I want to do it because a lot of people are just a sip away from being healthy,” Kirvin said. “A sip of water away can you believe that? Because people for example research has shown that 78 percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated.”

Kirvin said the presentations will also cover meal prepping, exercising, and proper sleep schedules.

“When you are healthy you are wealthy,” Kirvin said. “You are okay and I think the World Health Organization defines health as physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, so you have that when you go on a healthy lifestyle journey.”

Kirvin said many people try surgeries and medication that in some cases fail to accomplish a healthy lifestyle. Kirvin said she wants people to understand how to take control of their health.

“The takeaway is to take control of your health,” Kirvin said. “You don’t have to be spending thousands of dollars on doing surgery and taking out your gallbladder. You don’t have to take out your kidneys and all these different things. Don’t take out your kidneys. Don’t do all that, you don’t have to. Just drink enough water.”

Kirvin said a large population in the Upper Cumberland struggles with Obesity and Diabetes. Kirvin said the presentation can help people who have underlying medical conditions.
