The City of Sparta will spend some $76,000 to explore issues inside the city’s sewer system using video.
Sparta Mayor Jerry Lowery said that this was not the first time the city has spent money to have cameras explore the lines. The city approved a similar low bid last August. Lowery said this is another step in the process to repairing the city’s sewer system.
“That’s the use of ARPA funds that we are still working on the sewer,” Lowery said. “And looking at getting a visual on some of the other sewer lines that we need to repair.”
Lowery said the video will be sent to engineers to get the best idea of what needs to be repaired on the remaining sewer lines. Lowery said videoing the repaired sewer lines can take a couple of weeks to be completed.
The low bid came from Video Industrial Services, of Birmingham.
