Clarkrange Cuts Ribbon On New Registration Kiosk

Clarkrange has a new vehicle registration kiosk allowing locals to renew their registration without having to drive across the county.

Fentress County Clerk Amanda Hicks said the kiosk allows citizens to scan their current registration or renewal postcard and pay to renew their vehicle’s registration. Hicks said she hopes the kiosk will save time and effort for citizens in the area.

“So whenever I ran for office, I noticed in Clarkrange that they really needed something local that they could use for their vehicle registration because they’re about a thirty minute drive in to the county seat, which is Jamestown,” Hicks said. “So it was my desire to find something that would work for the Clarkrange community.”

Hicks said the kiosk will also benefit citizens throughout the rest of Fentress County since it can be used outside of the clerk’s office hours. The kiosk is located inside of the Swafford and Sons IGA grocery store in Clarkrange.

“It’s right as you walk into their front lobby, so it’s very visible to the customers, it’s easy access to use, and of course we have all of our phone numbers posted if anyone needs assistance with the kiosk,” Hicks said.

Hicks said the kiosk became available to the public on June 17. A ribbon cutting for the kiosk held Thursday morning. She said this is the first registration kiosk in the county.

“It would be my desire to be able to offer this to all the residents in the county, maybe even in a different area of the community,” Hicks said. “So we’re going to see how well this one does for us first, and then we’ll go from there.”

Hicks said registrations that are expired by over 90 days cannot be handled at the kiosk.
