June is National Dairy Month and the Jackson County Agriculture Extension Office is promoting dairy in the community.
Ava Stafford serving as the Dairy Month Chair. Stafford said her role as dairy chair consists of promoting dairy and documenting the experiences.
“Go out into the community,” Stafford said. “So that would be like promoting to young kids and adults alike. But also one fun fact to0, at the end of the month I get to make a dairy scrapbook, so it’s basically entailing everything I’ve done throughout the month.”
The theme for this year’s event “May The Dairy Be With You.” Stafford said she promotes dairy to all types of people.
“I really like working with the children because they are very open to new knowledge and facts,” Stafford said. “So I find that very interesting, but I’ve also been to the library and I did that about a week ago and I went to the senior center, the Fairview Senior Center today and we played dairy bingo.”
Stafford said she has enjoyed being the dairy chair and that she has brought people together.
“I feel like I’ve been able to bring a lot of people together through their common interest in dairy,” And just their common interest in other people as well, cause it’s an opportunity for me to kind of bring everyone together for their certain love of dairy and just kind of educate them about that, so yeah its been really good overall and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
