The 41st WCTE Great TV Auction returns Saturday, the station’s largest and longest-running fundraiser.
WCTE President Avery Hutchins said the auction will have an online component to give access to more people. Hutchins said the auction features items donated by local businesses and includes gift cards, vacations, kayaks, jewelry, and more.
“Pretty much anything you can think of, we have on the auction, some really great things” Hutchins said. “Probably over 900 items on this year’s auction, on items that people can bid on.”
Hutchins said the week-long auction and its accompanying online auction help give local businesses exposure through their donations. She said the money raised by the auction will be reinvested into the community through public broadcasting.
“It helps us raise money for the work that we do right here in the Upper Cumberland,” Hutchins said. “That includes educational engagement, early learning literacy, emergency alerting, as well as all the great local programming that our community relies on.”
Hutchins said that the auction has raised some $70,000 for the station.
“Every dollar, every dime that we fundraise and receive goes right back into the community with the work that we’re doing,” Hutchins said.
The auction will run from June 1-9.
