Four Upper Cumberland residents among 12 people arrested in a Tennessee investigation into online child exploitation and sextortion.
Three McMinnville men face charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. 42-year old Garry Alford, 32-year old Johnathan Curtis, and 38-year old Clifton Johnston face one count each. 29-year old Courtney Staggs of Jamestown faces 14 counts ranging from aggravated rape of a child to six counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
A total of 24 victims identified in the statewide investigation. Five were rescued by law enforcement, from being included in new content. Investigators are still searching for an additional 22 victims, ranging from ages 11 to 17.
The TBI worked with 18 other agencies on this three-month investigation. That includes the McMinnville Police Department and the Warren County Sheriffs Department. Ten search warrants were executed. Authorities seized 181 electronic devices. The initial report said more than 264,000 images were found on the devices.
