Cookeville Hickory Center Medical Facility Ribbon Cutting Thursday

The Hickory Center, a new medical facility in Cookeville, set for a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday.

The North Hickory Avenue facility will house Fresenius Dialysis, Cumberland Kidney Specialists and Primary Care and Diabetes Center. Physician Anju Mendiratta said the center will serve a great community need with the focus on diabetes and kidney care.

“You can call it an unfortunate need, but I would call it one of the most important needs of the community,” Mendiratta said. “It just depends how we look at the things. We can see the glass as being half full or half empty.”

The facility will also house a state-of-the art dialysis unit, the first of its kind in Cookeville. They will also provide on-site ultrasounds.

“We want to invite the community and patients to come over and see our facility,” Mendiratta said. “They will be very impressed to see it is a very open space, not claustrophobic. I want them to come over and see our team, our staff, dietitians and nursing staff because we have a very talented and experienced nurses who are working.”

Mendiratta said the facility offers a one-stop facility for patients with diabetes and kidney issues.

“Physicians are always present in this building. So, if there is any issues that happens in dialysis unit or anywhere over here, we are able to help the patient then and there,” Mendiratta said. “Our dialysis unit is downstairs, and we are upstairs and if anybody needs any help we are able to do that.”

Mendiratta has been practicing medicine in Cookeville for over 18 years. She said she hopes the community embraces the Hickory Center like they have embraced her all these years.

The facility is located on 117 North Hickory Avenue. The ribbon cutting will take place on Thursday from 3pm to 7pm.
