Crossville’s Plateau Soccer Club Announces Expansion For Region

The Plateau Soccer Club will expand to give more opportunities to players and coaches.

Club President Paul Robinson said the expansion is a joint venture with organizations across the region. Robinson said he hopes to create a competitive experience for kids who have not had the opportunity to play soccer because of price or travel.

“There has been an interest in Middle Tennessee, in Crossville, but the players have had to go out of the Crossville area in order to get that training,” Robinson said. “And with the formation of our club than that training is now available locally.”

Robinson said with the World Cup, Olympics, and Nashville soccer teams gaining public attention, soccer has seen more general interest. Robinson said Plateau Soccer would like to grow a local culture that gets the community excited about competitive soccer.

Robinson said before their registration officially opened word of mouth across Crossville led to many calling early to sign up their kids.

“People are becoming more aware and that has to do with the marketing,” Robinson said. “Through that gathering of key people in the community to let them know that soccer is here to stay, and to be able to be played at a higher level.”

Robinson said there expansion will help communities through the Upper Cumberland.

“There’s communication with surrounding communities to bring them to Crossville to provide a bridge between Nashville and Knoxville,” Robinson said. “To play soccer within an hour of the Crossville Center.”

Robinson said many parents have told him that their child has the ambition to play at a higher level of soccer, and he hopes to help. Robinson said he has been encouraged by the acceptance he’s seen in Crossville for competitive soccer.
