New building permits increased some 70 percent in Putnam County during October compared with the same month a year ago.
Some $9.4 million in permits were issued in the county last month, excluding the four municipalities. 25 of the 47 permits were new single-family residential housing.
County Mayor Randy Porter said the county still has a chance to beat the 2022 record for building permits with less than two months left in the year.
The average price of new homes permitted did decrease to some $300,758, down roughly $50,000 from 2022. Porter said that could be reduced building cots, higher interest rates, or simply more affordable being constructed.
For the year, more than $71.9 million in building permits have been issued inside Putnam County.
