Spencer Approves 17K For City Water Tank Maintenance

Spencer conducting routine maintenance on the city water tank in order to remove sludge buildup.

The city will be outsourcing the water tank cleaning services to a third-party company. Spencer Mayor Alisa Farmer said this cost is a major price cut for the city compared to last year’s $24,000 invoice. Farmer said the water tank was in need of being removed and cleaned, or else the city was at risk of being fined by the EPA.

“It happens two times a year that we have to remove that from the area and have it emptied somewhere else,” Farmer said.

Farmer said the sludge removal from the city water tank she called the holding pond is ongoing.

“It’s just a thing that we do at the water plant that’s a normal thing, all water plants have that,” Farmer said.

Badger will conduct the work for approximately $17,800.
