Compounding Pharmacy Buying Location In Highlands Business Park

A compounding pharmacy will purchase some 4.67 acres in the Highlands Business Park to create some 14 jobs in phase one, doubling in the next phase.

Mattson Holdings compounds medicine in batches for physicians offices and hospitals. Community Development Director Jon Ward told city council members at a Monday work session, Cookeville has been working on the project for several months.

“This is not your typical type of manufacturing job or something like that,” Ward said. “I mean, this is more of a white collar process that they’re using out there. Just a diversified industry to bring into the business park.”

Positions start at $45,000 annually. Ward said that includes pharmacists and technicians. Cookeville City Council will vote on the sale Thursday night at a price tag of $37,500 per acre.

“They’ve been looking to locate in our area for some time,” Ward said.

Ward said the L1 site in the business park is a rather obscure location, just off Burgess Falls Road.

“It doesn’t have a lot of bigger areas on either side of it,” Ward said.

Putnam County Commissioners must also signoff on the transaction.
