Kelly Stewart will serve Highland Residential Services as its new Director Of Operations.
Stewart said he is currently serving as the interim Director Of Operations, training every day to take over the job fully on January 1. Stewart said that he was offered the job on the same day the current Director Of Operations Chris Cassetty announced his retirement. Stewart said his staff has been a great help during the transition process which has taken significant time in his day-to-day.
“We still have accounting to do while I’m learning about the Director Of Operations position,” Stewart said. “That accounting work still has to get done so we have a good accounting staff here that’s jumped in and took care of that while I’ve been learning.”
Stewart said that he is very excited, thankful, and blessed by the opportunity to take on a new challenge. Stewart said that his 23 years of experience within the Housing Authority is what largely made him a candidate for the position.
“We always look to hire within,” Stewart said. “So that was their first look to see who was interested in the position. Anytime we can hire within and move anybody up anytime there’s an opening we try to do that so that worked out.”
Stewart said that he does noy have any improvements to make, but intends to continue the work started by Cassetty.
“I’ve got some big shoes to fill,” Stewart said. “I’m not sure I can name one area that needs improvement right off the bat. Our director of operation does a great job.”
Stewart said the training he has experienced in accounting will help in learning more about property maintenance and management. Stewart said that an area he will try to continue Cassetty’s involve his excellent communication skills.
