Clay And Pickett Getting Set For The Rollercoaster Yard Sale This Weekend

The Rollercoaster Yard Sale arrives in the Upper Cumberland Thursday with residents, businesses, and outdoor lovers alike gearing up.

The event features outdoor yard sales placed around Dale Hollow Lake. A road map will help guide participants. Billy Robbins of the Byrdstown-Pickett County Chamber of Commerce said the sale is good for Pickett County, as it incentivizes people who normally would not pass through the county to stop.

“Well naturally on any opportunity we have to bring people through the county and stop, and visit us, and spend their money with us that’s what we want to do,” Robbins said. “And this is a good target for that, you have these outside people doing this natural loop around Dale Hollow Lake and we usually have a pretty good turnout.”

Robbins said that he knows of vendors that are already set up for the event and waiting for people to come through. Robbins said that the Celina Fairgrounds and Freedom Kentucky are usually of the two biggest stops.

“Some of our people here cruise the event, several participate and it’s good to participate,” Robbins said. “It’s a good opportunity to clean out your garage, a yard sale!”

Robbins said that last year the event sold out 18-yard trail locations that were hosting a yard sale.

“Everybody always looks forward to it,” Robbins said. “I do personally, I’ll go out and cruise around at least one day of it. Sometimes you find little nuggets you didn’t know were out there”

Robbins said there are no official hours for the Rollercoaster Yard sale, though vendors typically open around 7 a.m. and wind down around 5 p.m.
