Warren FCE Club To Open New Chapter In Dibrell Community

The Warren County UT Extension is restarting the Family and Community Education Club in the Dibrell community.

The club will service the Dibrell community by offering Meals on Wheels, a reading program, leader training, and other service projects for the community. The club will also link up with other FCE clubs across the county to provide services on a larger scale. Family and Consumer Science UT Extension Agent Hilda Lytle said the club would do a lot of good for the Dibrell community.

“We have clubs in other parts of Warren County, and we are restarting this one,” Lytle said. “It was done several years ago and kind of fell by the way side, and now there are some other interested members or potential members that want to get that club up and going again.”

The club will officially start with a kick-off event on October 10 at 4 p.m. at the Dibrell Museum. Lytle described the event as an “interest meeting”.

“We’ll be doing some talking with anyone that’s interested about what the club is doing or interested in doing and meeting times and dates and those kinds of things to gauge interest in the community,” Lytle said.

Lytle said the club in Dibrell fell by the wayside several year ago when core members of the group passed away.

“It just got to be a small club, and they could not keep it going at that time,” Lytle said. “It fizzled for a little while and now were hoping to get back going and encourage the people of the Dibrell community.”

FCE Clubs exist in several counties and communities in the Upper Cumberland. After the kick off event, the club will meet monthly every Tuesday.
