Gainesboro Residents Can Soon Pay Water And Utility Bills With Card Online

Gainesboro residents will soon have additional options to pay water and utility bills, thanks to its existing utility processor.

Gainesboro Mayor Lloyd Williams said the move provides more ways to pay and better security.

“Well, about three years ago, we went to a direct deposit with the company, and so they come in and give us a proposal to now they’re going to add extra security, which they’re really pushing that,” Williams said. “And also we’ll be able to take credit cards at the office, and you can also pay online. So it’s just giving everybody more options to do their payment.”

Williams said the system should be up and running this month. The company will also assist the city with billing, Williams said, with minimal additional costs.

“All in all, the cost of it was, like, maybe $60 extra a month for all these extra features, so it was a good investment,” Williams said.

Williams said the city sometimes found itself in a bind when it did not take credit cards, because so few people carry cash today. The online option also gives residents 24-7 access to see and pay the bill.
