Obituaries For Wednesday, August 30

Connie Sue Ketzner, age 72 of Cookeville, passed from this life Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at her home in Cookeville. Born Saturday, June 23, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Nora (Miller) Ketzner. She was a loving grandmother, great grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a Veteran of the U. S. Airforce and worked many years as a nurse. Connie is survived by: 2 Grandchildren and spouse: Lauren and Coty Gardner of Baxter, Maddie Hammock of Sparta; 4 great grandchildren and 1 on the way: Aleeah Heatherly, Aiden Heatherly, Layla Gardner, Tatum Gardner; 2 half sisters: Lee Ketzner of Michigan, Pat Ketzner of Michigan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Emily (Jones) Ellis, 2 brother, John Ketzner, Armor Ketzner. Connie had chosen cremation and no services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family or the funeral home to help with final expenses.

Graveside Funeral Services for Dusty Foister, age 41, of Monterey, will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson Community. Bro. Tony Phipps will officiate. Dusty was born on November 25, 1981, in Crossville, to Debbie Phipps of Monterey, and the late James Foister. He passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a self-employed licensed contractor. He was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by, 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Hailey and Logan Davis of Ohau, HI, Avery Foister of Monterey; 2 sons, Kaydence Foister of Monterey, TN, Brody Foister of Monterey, TN; mother of his children, Sarah Foister of Monterey; brother, Derrick Foister of Monterey; maternal grandparents, Bobby and Jeanette Phipps of Monterey; aunts and uncles, Rick (Rhonda) Phipps of Clarkrange, Ann Holloway of Monterey, Scott and Penny Foister of Cookeville, Steve and Robin Foister of Cookeville. The family will receive friends at Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson Community for Graveside Services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reba Ford, 96 of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 31, at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sand Springs Cemetery. She peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Signature Healthcare in Algood. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.

Graveside Funeral Services for Benton Nelson, age 93, of Cookeville, will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Zion Hill Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Rev. Dow Allen will officiate. Mr. Nelson was born on Tuesday, December 10, 1929, in Rickman, to the late Tom and Nancy Gaw Nelson. Mr. Nelson passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Overton County Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Nelson was a Modular Home Installer. He was a school bus driver for Putnam County School District for approximately 20 years during the 1980s and 1990s. He was a Member of Post Oak Shade Freewill Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He is survived by his son, Darrell Edwin Nelson of Cookeville; sisters, Louise Conley of the Brotherton Community, Susie Gregg of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Treva Bowman Nelson; sister, Mary Jane Ray; and brothers, Ardean, Brownie, Jack, Horace, and Carlos Nelson. The family will receive friends at the Zion Hill Cemetery for Graveside Services.

A Memorial Service for Sarah Denice Whittaker, age 52 of Sparta, will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 5:00 p.m at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. She passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville. She was born October 19, 1970 in Sparta, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Poston and Helen Jernigan Poston. Sarah is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Poston. Surviving family include: Husband – William Whittaker of Sparta; Mother – Helen Poston of Sparta; Sister – Teresa Hutchings (Anthony) of Sparta; Nephews – Daniel Swift, Zach Graves, David Graves; Several Aunts, Uncles, several cousins, many friends and neighbours also survive. Sarah was a member of Findlay Church of Christ. She worked for the State of Tennessee for 23 years. The family will recieve friends on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life for Rose Leigh Bilbrey Vines, 78 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday September 1 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Kevin Conrad will officiate. She passed away in Nashville on August 21 after a brief illness. Her family will welcome friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time.

A celebration of life for Cindy A. Scritsmier, 63 of Gainesboro, will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Gainesboro Bridge Church at 4 P.M., with Pastor Ken Lewis officiating. The family has chosen cremation. She was born June 11, 1960, in Rochelle, IL, and she passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at her residence in Gainesboro. She was the daughter of Lorraine Cratolo and the late Phil Cratolo. On August 15, 2013, she was married to Fred E. Scritsmier, who survives. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Christian Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Chicago, Paw Paw Bible Church in Paw Paw, IL, and Gainesboro Bridge Church in Gainesboro. Survivors include her Husband: Fred E. Scritsmier of Gainesboro; Daughters: Nicole Manley of Roselle IL, Regina Dyrda of Houston, TX, Corinne Dyrda of Glendale Heights, IL, and Dava Dyrda of Roselle, IL; Brothers: Al Cratolo, Ron Cratolo, John Cratolo, and Danny Cratolo; Sister: Brenda Cratolo of Lombard, IL; Mother: Lorraine Cratolo of Lombard, IL; Grandchild: Willow Dyrda; and other relatives. Memorial donations may be made to the Gainesboro Bridge Church by contacting the funeral home.
