Jackson County Chamber Brings Residents, Business And Officials Together

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will provide information on community resources and an opportunity to meet local officials at a new event called Community Coffee.

Chamber Executive Hope Vargas said she had received feedback that gaining information and meeting other residents was sometimes difficult for people. Vargas said the Chamber members felt they could bridge the gap for the community.

“We want to make sure that the real information and accurate stuff gets into the hands of our residents as well as just give them the opportunity to connect with each other and hopefully just continue to build some solid friendships for years to come,” Vargas said.

Vargas said any time you have the opportunity to gather people in a central location it can be beneficial. She said by bringing together the community and elected officials, the officials can hear any thoughts or concerns from their constituents about various topics.

Vargas said this platform also allows the officials to take the opportunity to respond to community members.

“It’s kind of two-fold thing and just a really good opportunity on all sides for people to come together and meet,” Vargas said.

Vargas said it can definitely be difficult these days to find the correct information and correct resources today.  She said that is part of the Chamber’s mission and vision is to be that solid resource in the community.

“People always know that they can go to us and that we provide events that are super beneficial to the community,” Vargas said.

Vargas said it is very important for the community to take the time to learn about what elected officials are doing and the thought process behind their decisions. She said there are so many things going on as commissioners prepare for many months leading up to budget time.

“Sharing our concerns and allowing them to provide us with information as well, that is such a huge need,” Vargas said. “It’s really important for us to voice what we think might potentially be best and allow them the opportunity to really think through all sides of a situation.”

Vargas said if you want to participate in this free event, all you have to do is show up. Community Coffee will take place September 9 at City Park in Jackson County. She said there will be packets of information for each attendee.
