Tech Tuition And Fees Increase 2.93% For In-State Students

The Tennessee Tech Board Of Trustees approved $154 in additional tuition and fees for the average in-state student at its quarterly meeting Thursday.

The increase is a 2.92 percent increase on tuition, or roughly $135 for a student taking 15 hours. The mandatory fees will increase 2.96 percent or roughly $19 per semester.

Claire Stinson is Vice President for Planning & Finance. She said most Tennessee Universities are proposing similar increases for the 2023-2024 school year. Both Austin Peay and Middle Tennessee State proposed higher increases. The Tennessee Higher Education Commission will only allow increases up to three percent.

There are no increases in out-of-state or graduate tuition rates.

As part of the mandatory fees, Tech officials will increase the facility fee to help fund new student spaces. Stinson said those are non-academic in nature.

The University received no comments from the public after posting information on the tuition increase.
