Warren Animal Control Facility Hoping To Start Expansion This Summer

A local business has donated pre-cast walls to help construct the new Warren County Animal Control building.

The county has struggled for some time with not having enough space to accommodate the influx of animals in its care. County Executive Terry Bell said they have appropriated funds and secured a location for the new facility.

“Which is pretty close to the animal control facility we have now, so we’ll be able to have overflow if we have overflow from the new building we’ll be able to use the old facility,” Bell said. “So hopefully that’ll get that problem solved for us.”

Bell said the county has approved the plans and is awaiting the project’s start by Superior Walls, the company donated the pre-cast walls. He said Superior Walls will also be constructing the facility itself.

Bell said they anticipate work to begin this summer, with an estimated completion of November. He said the current plans will more than double the facility’s current space.

“It’s an ongoing problem that when you call and ask for animal control they’ve had to tell you that their facility was full and they weren’t able to come out and help you,” Bell said. “So hopefully this will solve that situation.”
