Crossville is hosting its first Friday at the Crossroads event of the Summer on Friday.
Crossroads Steering Committee Chair Brooke Shaffer Shaffer said the idea for the event came about when she returned back to Crossville in 2016 after living in Pennsylvania, where similar events were taking place. She said she presented the idea to Downtown Crossville Incorporated, and they have been running the event every other month from April to December.
“I had moved away and lived in York, Pennsylvania where they had First Friday events,” Shaffer said. “I moved back here in 2015, in 2016 I saw how thriving our downtown area was, and I felt like we should do something like that.”
Shaffer said Friday’s event will be themed to summer, and several local businesses and groups will be participating.
“We are going to have several food trucks, I know that there is going to be live music at social brew, there is going to be different groups, they sponsor and give out free gifts,” Shaffer said. “There’s going to be free ice cream that is sponsored by Burnett Law, There’s also the Republican Party, they have something sponsored where they are bringing in a petting zoo.”
She said every event has its own theme, and vendors are encouraged to do giveaways related to those themes.
“This one is the flip flop Friday, kicking off the summer, August is our back to school and the kickoff for the united fund,” Shaffer said.
“Then October of course is going to be our fall fest, and December is our winter wonderland.”
Shaffer said vendors and businesses interested in being part of the events should contact the Friday at the Crossroads Facebook page.
The event is from 4 to 8 pm at 2 North Main Street in Crossville
