UCHRA To Partner With Board Of Regents For In-Home Service Training Program

UCHRA working to get more people into the in-home healthcare service field through a new partnership.

Community Services Director LaNelle Godsey said there has been a widespread trend of finding individuals to go provide in-home services to clients. She said partnering with the Tennessee Board of Regents to provide training and education opportunities will aid in getting individuals interested in the field and more employees to provide the service.

The goal of this is to not only help UCHRA effectively recruit and retain healthcare and in-home workers but for the whole region, and maybe even statewide,” Godsey “If this seems to be a good curriculum and they’re getting that certification then we would want this to be a best practice model and share that with everyone.”

Godsey said the program will go through quality improvement and a long-term support program. She said they will also partner with TennCare to make sure the training program and certification meet the needs of the UCHRA’s CHOICES Program. Godsey said those individuals are doing a higher level of care than some components of the program.

Godsey said the initiative is just getting started, but they are very excited. She said they hope by having this specific education track for the in-home workers, they can get more people interested in the career.

“And equip them with better skills,” Godsey said. “So that this is long-term and something that more folks want to go into.”
