Consultants to the City of Livingston’s Downtown Revitalization Committee have recommended South Church Street remain with two-way traffic.
Consultant Ray Evans told the Board of Aldermen Monday night that the consultants had recently completed a field survey. He said that allowed them to learn the exact width and curb size of the street, and how to best move forward with that knowledge.
“We looked at numerous alternatives as to one-way flow, two-way flow, angled parking, parallel parking,” Evans said. “And the easiest conclusion is that we need to continue with the two-way flow on South Church Street and parallel parking on both sides.”
Evans said the decision fits within inches of compliance with the state’s design standards. He said the traffic flow will go from the square down to the railroad.
Evans said the consultants submitted designs on Friday. He said the next step will be to meet with Upper Cumberland Electric to go over odds and ends as to how their lines are going to be placed underground and how the city will make ties in for street lights.
“I think the plan right now with that consultant is they’ll be submitting final construction documents to the Appalachian Regional Commission by the end of the month,” Evans said. “And hopefully can get back from them shortly thereafter.”
