After an almost two-year process, Baxter’s Fire Department will implement a new command vehicle.
Chief Matthew White said they conducted the process to build the vehicle from the ground up. He said the vehicle would be used during emergencies and in the events of fires to keep track of personnel and take control of the scene.
“We have a small limited fleet and we always have to have a safety officer on any fire we have,” White said. “So that’s part of that mobile command vehicle being able to be there to be able to have accountability for our officers.”
White said the vehicle is designed to hold multiple radios, communication devices, and accountability boards. He said they have a delay in getting all of the parts but are hopeful everything is in place to finish the build-out.
White said the purchase of the vehicle was made possible with the help of a grant.
