Putnam County Schools hoping spring break will be a time for students and teachers to relax and refresh.
Director of Schools Corby King said it is important for those in the system to get a break for a nine-week grading period.
“This third nine weeks especially without the snow days we typically have, we’ve had a lot going on,” King said. “An exciting time but so much academic push and rigor that’s happening, everybody just needs to take a deep breath and step back and refresh a little bit.”
King said it is additionally important for families to get away and have a break before the academic rigor of the fourth quarter. He said that is when all of the important academic testings occur.
King said particularly with the focus on third-grade testing with the potential for the retention bill, time away from school is important to recharge.
