Upper Cumberland Tourism Association working on rebuilding its website to better showcase social media and tourism opportunities.
Executive Director Patti Purdy said the site has been down since the fall when it crashed. She said since she came into her role a year and a half ago, it has been a needed project.
“It was time because we needed to update it,” Purdy said. “We wanted to really simplify it for the visitor to find what they needed more easily. So I think the new flow of the site is going to work perfectly.”
Purdy said the website will also highlight the tourism association’s “trails,” which take visitors to specific locations all over the Upper Cumberland. She said these include the wine trail, coffee trail, quilt trail, and eventually an outdoor trail. Purdy said the trails have been widely popular and a big draw to visitors from all over.
Purdy said they are waiting to fully launch the updated website after they publish their annual “Stay and Play” magazine so it can also be featured on the website. She said she hopes that the new site will be fully completed this spring.
“We are very excited to get this completed,” Purdy said. “We have been in talks about this for some time so we’re excited about hopefully being able to launch soon.”
Purdy said that there are still membership opportunities for those interested in joining. She said they want to eventually expand the organization through memberships and word of mouth.
