Putnam Has About $3 Million In ARP Funding Ready For Use

Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter plans to wait until this summer before discussing possible projects for the county’s remaining ARP funding.

Porter said he estimates about $3 million remain, but he would like to save the funding as a cushion for already approved water projects.

Porter said a possible partnership with Cookeville to expand public water in Macedonia could be an option for the remaining funds. Porter said more work in Algood could also be explored.

The county commission has used the majority of its ARP funding thus far for water projects, but Porter said commissioners could try other avenues. The county received about $15 million in total.

As for a deadline for spending, Porter said the county accept the funds as revenue loss last year, so there are no time constraints.
