Celina Exploring Grant For New Playground, Planning Veterans Memorial Wall

Celina planning for a new playground and veterans memorial wall at its new city park.

The green space is located on Highway 52 beside Celina Health and Rehab. Mayor Luke Collins said the city is currently targeting several grants in order to make the project happen.

“We’re looking forward to our first city park,” Collins said. “We did a survey and asked the people in the community what they wanted. Parks and recreation was the highest thing on the list.”

Collins said one grant application the city wants to apply for is with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation. The same opportunity completely funded a new playground in Baxter.

Collins said the veterans wall would cost about $10,000, so the project may be completed in-house. It would include names native to Celina. The city also wants to build a pavilion and restroom facility.

The city received the parcel of land through donation by the health and rehab facility last year.
