Cumberland Schools Wants Community Feedback On 24-25 School Calender

Cumberland County Schools seeking public feedback to help select the school calendar for 2024-2025.

Director of Schools Billy Stepp said two options are being considered after a school calendar committee formed recommendations.

“All stakeholders and all community members can vote on which version they like better,” Stepp said. “It is just where the holidays are. We add day here and take away a day there, but the community votes on it and the school board will take into consideration.”

The main difference is the first day of school on August 9th which is a Friday versus August 7th, a Wednesday. This would also impact the last day of school being May 22nd or May 23rd. Fall break is the third week of October in both options as well as spring break on the third week of March.

Stepp said the survey closes on March 13th so the school board can approve an option at its monthly meeting. You can find the survey on the school system’s website.

The school board has already adopted its calendar for next school year.
