Cookeville Planning Pushes RV Park Proposal To Full Council

The Cookeville Planning Commission recommended removing campgrounds and RV parks from general commercial zones and add the developments to local commercial Monday.

Currently, the RV parks are only allowed under special exceptions in general commercial zones. Planning Director Jon Ward said the proposal sets a boundary protecting the inner city and limits the use along heavy traffic roads.

Ward-1             (:14)               Q. Use Would Fit

Ward said areas zoned local commercial larger than three acres along Spring Street, East Spring Street, West Broad Street and South Jefferson would fit the amendments. Ward said the use would also be required to be admitted on appeal.

The Cookeville City Council will consider the amendment Thursday. Ward said he believes the proposal opens the door for a later discussion on trailer parks.
