A T-DOT Highway 127 project still on schedule for 2025 completion.
Senator Ken Yager said the widening project from Lowe Avenue in Cumberland County to north of State Route 62 in Fentress County will widen the highway to a four-lane road. He said the project has been long in the works.
“We broke ground there about a year ago I guess it was for the construction of a segment,” Yager said. “And there’s work ongoing now south of there in Cumberland County where they’re doing the groundwork and grading work and getting ready to start the construction of the roadway there.
Yager said the goal is to connect Jamestown to Crossville by a well-constructed four-lane road. Yager said as Highway 127 is a major north-south corridor, it needs to be widened to reflect the growing amount of traffic that travels along the road. He said doing so will enable more retail, commercial, and industrial development.
Yager said they are seeing significant segments of that project in the works as of now.
