Vol State urging Upper Cumberland High Schoolers to prepare for the dual enrollment registration portal opening next month.
Economic Development Vice President Nicholas Bishop said interested students should use this next month completing its FAFSA application to enroll through Tennessee Promise.
“I would really encourage people to take advantage of that opportunity because it is free,” Bishop said. “What it allows you to do is get you feet wet with college. It helps you figure out what you want to do but also maybe what you don’t want to do.”
Bishop said through dual enrollment, students can complete general courses before college and save money. Bishop said Vol State has a new duel enrollment coordinator in Alisha Looper that can help with the process.
Thanks to federal COVID money Vol State will offer free hotspots to students that enroll in dual classes. Bishop said it is just another feature to help students succeed that may not have internet access.
