Baxter City Council has approved a $214,000 capital outlay note to pay for the city’s new sanitation truck.
Mayor John Martin said the need has been there to replace the garbage truck for some time, and the city finally feels it is financially possible to do so.
“The truck that we have, the backload has really got a lot of issues so we ordered a new one,” Martin said. “So it’s really going to help. As far as all the growth we’ve got, so we’re going to need some new and better equipment.”
Martin said the city has been having to borrow a truck from Monterey on occasion in case of emergencies. He said the city was lucky and able to find a truck a purchase while many other municipalities and government entities are searching for trucks like this.
Martin said they hope to receive the truck within two or three months and get it out on the road.
