The Overton County Budget and Purchasing Committee did not take action on four bids for a partial jail roof replacement project.
Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Tim Poore said the committee instructed him to further investigate the companies since they are not local.
“They were probably just a little bit more than what we would hope for, but they were all pretty reasonably within the neighborhood of each other,” Poore said.
Poore said the roof project will likely cost the county about $130,000 based on the bids. Poore said the project would replace a some 20-year-old roof that has experienced leak issues.
The county commission designated federal COVID money to pay for the project last year. Poore said the project will only replace about a quarter of the overall roof of the Justice Center. Poore said the county plans to repair the facility in increments.
