Putnam Schools Launch 22-23 Family Engagement Survey

The Putnam County School System has launched the Family Engagement Survey for the 2022-23 school year.

Communications Supervisor Hannah Davis said the survey is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to voice their opinion on the good things they see happening in the school district and ways it can improve. She said it asks about every facet of the student’s experience, from the district level to inside the classroom.

“It’s important so we can re-evaluate how to be a better school district, a better school, teacher, classroom atmosphere,” Davis said. “If we don’t know what’s working well or what’s not working well, we can’t make those changes. ”

Davis said the survey is one of the most extensive the school system sends out. She said it is completely anonymous and asks things about the child’s classroom experience, how they might feel during the school day, and things parents and guardians would like to see at the district level.

Davis said a good example of how this survey can enact change is that the district implemented text alerts when communicating information. She said according to results from the survey, that was the most preferred method compared to emails or social media. Davis said they would have not had that information if not for the survey.

“It allows us to take a deeper look into what parents and caregivers want, so we make informed decisions that lead to a better school system for our families,” Davis said.

The survey closes on January 31st.
