License Plates For Tennesseans With Disabilities To Have New Design In 2023

The license plate for Tennesseans with disabilities will have a new look that matches the new blue design.

Putnam County Clerk Wayne Nabors said the previous license plates for those with disabilities were white with black lettering. The new design is consistent with legislation that calls for the design of license plates issued to people who are disabled or confined to wheelchairs to incorporate a design in line with the new blue plates.

“This will flow just like the others,” Nabors said. “And, like all the plates we issued in 2022, even those with a personalized tag, those are also in the blue with the white. So everything is looking a little more blueish conformity together.”

Nabors said handicapped driver plates that expire in December will just receive an updated sticker and will get a new blue plate in December 2023. Nabors said if you have not received a renewal card in the mail, all you need to do is write down the license plate number or bring the registration to his office. He said they can issue a new plate to a driver quickly and easily.
