Putnam County Commissioners agreed to the sell of the Old Bridge Road property Monday night that had once been used as an election precinct.
The county will receive $85,000 for the purchase of the facility. The sale passed unanimously 24-0.
Commissioners agreed several months ago to allow the property to be sold after some local residents expressed interest in the land and building off Old Sparta Road. It has not been used as an election precinct in several years.
Commissioners also agreed to allow the fire department to apply for a volunteer firefighters grant. The $34,547 grant includes no match from the county. Multiple counties across the region are applying for the grant which will help purchase equipment for the volunteer units.
Monday night’s meeting also featured honors for the Upperman baseball team, the defending 3A State Champions. The commission honored four members of the Veterans Honor Guard Monday night.
Commissioners honored Gloria Clouse, Ralph King, Jim McAfee, and Tom Serwan prior to the meeting. The four had served at 6.979 funerals as of last week.
The group provides honors for veterans without charge to the family.
