Helping Animals of Warren County disbanding after providing services to the community for seven years.
President Hollie Cox said dwindling membership and a lack of volunteers led to a tough decision.
“It broke my heart,” Cox said. “I had mixed emotions about letting it go. That’s why I announced my resignation back in January of this year to give them a whole year to find someone to take it over. No one stepped forward that was interested in doing it.”
Cox said the remaining original members voted to disband on December 31st after seeing a lack in interest. Cox said she truly believes that they made a difference in the community.
“We had several programs that we worked hard on getting grants,” Cox said. “For instance, we did the Off The Chain program for Warren County, and we were awarded a grant to give those that qualify a kennel to help get their pets off the chain, because that is a new ordinance in McMinnville.”
Cox said over 1,800 pets were fixed due to their work. The group also assisted with veterinarian bills, food and shelter.
